Journey till Korigad fort

On Sunday, early morning we left for Korigad Trek. Journey took more than expected due to weekend traffic on the express highway. We reached to base village of Korigad fort trek around 10 in the morning. The base village is Peth Shahapur. Korigad fort is located 25 km from Lonavala.

Heavy Breakfast

We had heavy Breakfast at the base village before starting Korigad Trek. Awesome hot Poha chutney along with few toppings was served. It was tasty, also the weather was making it tastier. It was drizzling continuously. As it was our first trek of the season so the enthusiasm was high.

Korigad trekking Instructions

Our trek leaders introduce and gave all of us proper instructions for trekking. They also requested us to not take selfies on the edges as it’s very risky on Korigad fort top. Korigad trek is very easy but the edges of the top plateau are a bit scary at times.

Special thanks to Aamby Valley City for maintaining steps till the top of the Korigad fort. We reached the halfway, from where Sahara City was visible. There was a cave with a water tank inside. Beside cave, the old entrance gate of the fort was in a dilapidated state.

Soon we reached Ganesh Darwaja i.e. last entrance gate of Korigad fort. Everyone reached the top of the fort. It was so windy and cold on top that one can’t stand against the wind flow. But, everyone was enjoying the same. Monsoon treks in Lonavala are planned to enjoy such a climate.

To our surprise, it was a big plateau at the top of the fort. After ascending Korigad trek, we started exploring along the edges as per the instructions of a trek leader.
