Pune is the most happening city and also a great start point for many bike riding routes such as Bike Ride to Lavasa. On weekends, you will find many riders on Mumbai – Banglore highway heading towards their destination, riding bikes to satiate the thirst for the long ride. Usually, there are many Royal Enfield groups, which is also a good option to join if you don’t have any friends in the city but I ride with my friends only. Mostly, bike ride organizers have their own rules. You can check my blog of Pune to Goa bike ride.
Planning of Bike ride to Lavasa
Saturday late night, we were tired after playing a lot of counter strike. Continuously, 10 hours we spent on playing that game. After that, my friend Pawan searched for a good bike ride option near Pune and made a plan of an awesome bike ride to Lavasa. It was 3 A.M. in the morning. Everyone was sleepy. We thought that it will be a Sunday afternoon or evening plan. Shockingly, Pawan revealed that it is going to be an early morning bike ride to Lavasa. Within fifteen minutes, we will start our ride. To such an awkward plan, out of 8 roommates, 4 were turn up including Pawan. When you are bored with the routine, bikers always have some crazy plans.
Bullet Bike Ride to Lavasa from Pune
House of working bachelors in Pune means no scarcity of Bikes. In fact, you get to choose which bike you want to try for this weekend bike ride. Thus, we chose Thunderbird and Electra 350. We were used to such sudden riding plans. Because of which we keep our machine all time ready.
Wakad To Lavasa
We started our ride from Wakad which is located on outskirts of Pune. Before that, everyone had tea to get some energy. Indeed, it helped as we were awake throughout the night. Damn, it was one of those crazy rides. I remember it was really difficult to ride early in the morning that too during winter. I asked for Wakad to Lavasa distance and Pawan yelled 55 km – 2 hours. The aim was to enjoy sunrise at Lavasa gate. Around 4 A.M., we started our bike ride to Lavasa.
I don’t like to use much biking gears but I prefer only those which are required and must for safety. I had my Woodland jacket which I always used during past long bike rides. Even that was not helping me to fight with the chilling wind flow. We got to increase the speed on the highway till Chandni Chowk, where we met with the first wired diversion on the bridge. Throughout my winter bike rides, my hand gloves helped me a lot. In and around Pune, the temperature drops drastically during winter.
Fighting with Windflow
As you come out of the city, you get to see the countryside area, farmlands, small villages where the temperature goes down further. With such difficulty, Pawan was firm on his plan to watch the sunset by hook or crook. Then, I started focusing on my ride.
Halts and campfire
On our way to Lavasa, we used to halt whenever we were able to notice a burning campfire. In between, halts and clicks are my favorites but at night we were not able to click any good pictures.
Lavasa Sunrise Ride & Photography
Struggling with the cold, we finally reached the entrance gate of the Lavasa city.
We clicked many pictures during Sunrise. At 7 AM, we met these, beautiful school going kids. We loved their school dress color.
Post-Sunrise photography session, we entered Lavasa city. We were amazed to see the water level and the development of beautiful Lavasa city. In my mind, I Said, Bike Ride to Lavasa was worth than the weekend sleep.
We reached to a vantage point where everyone was like – “Ek picture to Banta hai yaar“.
That time, we came to know that Lavasa city was built around the small valley on the banks of Panshet backwater.
Before exploring, we directly went to that awesome bridge for the Lake view.
We went ahead and explored the newly built Lavasa city. The city was not much up to the mark as it was into the development phase. Nothing lured us to enjoy the city except the lake view.
After a long night and early morning ride, I was sleepy. We asked hotel room rates and then came out laughingly. We were thinking who the hell will pay so much amount for 2-3 hours sleep. Luckily, we met a guy on Tea stall. Besides that, there was this Toy train yet to be functional. Before ordering tea, we slept on benches of Toy train.
While riding back to Pune, we took another route. We took a cup of tea near Panshet Dam. Later, we returned back to the home safely without any halts.
Overall, random plans are always the best. I request a novice rider to take a calculated risk. We were able to plan as we knew the terrain, road conditions, locals and we had experience of long rides. Use proper safety gears for bike rides. Keep riding and share your experiences and views as well.
